George Martin signs new ‘multiyear agreement’ at Leicester
Leicester second row George Martin has signed a new “multiyear agreement” with the club.
Martin, 22, a standout performer for England during the World Cup, returned to action for Leicester in Sunday’s Investec Champions Cup win against Stade Francais.
He told the Gallagher Premiership club’s official website: “I’m really happy to be staying with Tigers.
“Coming through the academy here, I get to come into work every day, play for a great club with my mates and I’m excited to work with (head coach) Dan (McKellar) and develop in the program that we have here.
“It was great to get back on the field last week and Exeter (on Saturday) is another big challenge for our group.
“Playing for this club in Leicester is special. I’m looking forward to getting back home to Mattioli Woods Welford Road.”

Nottingham-born Martin has made 69 appearances in all competitions for Leicester and stepped off the bench in the 2021-22 Premiership final.
He made his England debut in a 32-18 defeat to Ireland in 2021 as a replacement for Billy Vunipola and made his first start in a World Cup warm-up match against Wales in August, which England lost 20-9.

The writer here ignores the fact that, following on from not taking the penalty kick, the All Blacks did manage to score a try a few minutes later. Not directly from the penalty awarded, but it is speculation to say that had they opted to take the koi they would have won. Even if they kicked it, which was no guarantee, they would still be trailing and would have had to start again at half-way.
Go to commentsI would be surprised if Sales Opoku Fordjour and Northampton’s Tommy Freeman are not in the team, Anthony Watson is also one that could go on the wing. One thing I must say is that the front 3 will get destroyed against a team like South Africa.
