Jasmine Joyce

As a talented winger, Jasmine Joyce currently plays for the Wales women’s rugby union team and Bristol Bears Women. She debuted for Wales in 2017 and has represented the Wales Sevens and Great Britain Sevens since 2015.

Born on 9 October 1995 in St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Jasmine Joyce started playing rugby when she was seven years old. She joined St. Davids RFC and trained there until she moved to Haverfordwest RFC at the age of 12. Her rugby career began just three years later when a Scarlets talent scout spotted her potential.

Joyce joined the Scarlets U18s squad and was selected to play on the wing. She impressed from her very first game, when she scored a hat trick against the Dragons. As a result, she soon began playing for the senior team. She then represented the Scarlets for a decade before transferring to Bristol Bears in 2020.

Her international career tells a similar story. Joyce was chosen for the Wales A Squad while at school and then selected for the extended Women’s Six Nations team. Three months into her time at Cardiff Metropolitan University, she made her sevens debut in 2015 at the Dubai Sevens. She then competed at the 2015 European Rugby Championships.

One year later, Jasmine Joyce made history. She was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Olympics. This made her one of the first British women to compete in sevens at the games. Then, in 2017, she was named in the Six Nations squad and earned her first cap against Scotland. She also played at the 2017 Rugby World Cup and represented Wales at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

More recently, Joyce travelled to the 2021 Olympics with team GB. She was also chosen to play for Wales at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup.
