Initially, Saracens fixtures were few and far between. However, when the Saracens team began to play against first-class sides, they quickly showed their worth. In the pre-league era, the Saracens team produced a number of England internationals and, by the 1970s, the team had become highly successful.
In the professional era of rugby union, Saracens have been an incredibly strong rugby side. In the team’s history, they’ve also won the RFU Championship twice, the Anglo-Welsh Cup twice and have won the European Rugby Champions Cup on three occasions.
Sadly though, the Saracens Rugby team are currently playing in the RFU Championship. This is because, in November 2019, the Saracens team was handed a points deduction and a £5.3m fine after they were found to have breached Premiership Rugby salary cap regulations over the previous three seasons. The points deduction handed to Saracens Rugby was so severe that the team finished the 2019-20 Premiership season on -38 points even though they won 13 out of a possible 22 games.
