Exeter Chiefs Rugby History
During the professional era of rugby union Exeter Rugby Club have been highly successful. The side won the National League 2 South in 1996 and National League 1 in 1997. Following a rebrand to the Exeter Chiefs in 1999, the team has won the RFU Championship once in 2010 and the Premiership in 2017 and 2020. This means that the Exeter Chiefs are the only rugby union side to win all of the top four tiers of English rugby. In addition, the side has also won the Anglo-Welsh Cup twice (most recently in 2018), and the Heineken Cup (European Rugby Champions Cup) once, in 2020.

Due to the team’s recent success, the Exeter Chiefs rugby team features a number of established international players, including representatives of all the Home Nations (England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales). The team’s top players include England centre Henry Slade, Wales wing Alex Cuthbert and Scotland fullback Stuart Hogg.
Today, the Exeter Chiefs are an established force in both English and European rugby. With two Premiership titles and three runners-up finishes in the five years between 2015-16 and 2019-20, the Exeter Chiefs rugby team will be looking to assert their dominance even further in the coming years.
