James Gemmell Managing director, Whisper Australia James Gemmell is a rugby presenter and producer for Sky Sports, having moved to London from Auckland over a decade ago. Gemmell worked as a general sports reporter in New Zealand, but his primary focus for Sky is rugby. He has covered four Rugby World Cups, three British & Irish Lions tours, and countless club and international games around the world. He is the producer of award-winning documentary ‘Beneath the Black: A Journey Through New Zealand Rugby’, and most recently returned home to present New Zealand's coverage of Rugby World Cup 2019, on Spark Sport. A graduate of Auckland University and Auckland Grammar School, he was captain of the school First XV. Outside rugby he has a passion for learning French (poorly) and drinking French wine (more successfully).
